Privacy Policy

What MarketCrash records about you, who else receives it, and how to have it deleted. MarketCrash is run by Rustam Akhmetov, who is responsible for this data.

The short version

MarketCrash has no accounts and no sign-in. You can read every page, play the games and use the AI app without telling us who you are.

We collect personal data in only two places, both optional: the email updates (your email address) and the feedback survey (your answers and, if you send them, your IP address). We do not sell data, show ads or share data with advertisers.

Email updates

If you subscribe, our server stores your email address, its status (waiting for confirmation, confirmed or unsubscribed), two random tokens for the confirm and unsubscribe links, the page and the spot on the page where you signed up, and the times you signed up and confirmed.

Apart from one confirmation email, nothing is sent until you click its link. After that you get at most one email a week, the digest.

Emails are sent through Resend (resend.com), which receives your address and the content of each email in order to deliver it.

Every digest email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops all email at once. The address stays in our database, marked as unsubscribed, so that signing up again later works. To have it deleted completely, write to us (see Contact below).

Feedback survey

Now and then we ask returning readers one short question: how much they like the site, plus three optional text questions. It is never a popup and one click closes it.

To know who is a returning reader, your browser creates a random ID (survey_anon_id) and keeps it in localStorage. At most once a day the page sends this ID to our server. For each ID the server keeps only: when it was first seen, the last day and the number of days it was active, and until when the survey is hidden for it. Nothing else is sent with these visits. The survey is only offered to an ID first seen at least 7 days ago and active on at least 3 days.

If you send an answer, the server stores your score, your three text answers (each cut to 1,000 characters), your random ID, the time, and your full IP address. The IP address is stored as it is, not hashed, and is used only to allow at most 3 answers from one address per day.

Your score, your text answers and your random ID (not your IP address) are also sent to the site owner's private Telegram chat through a Telegram bot, so that he reads them.

Closing the survey hides it for 30 days; answering hides it for 90 days. Open any page with ?no_survey=1 at the end of the address and the survey is never shown in that browser again. When the survey is switched off on the server, nothing is recorded at all.

The MarketCrash AI app (/mcp)

MarketCrash also answers inside AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude through its public server at www.marketcrash.net/mcp. It has no sign-in and only reads public market data.

The inputs of a request (an indicator name or a number of headlines) are not stored. Your IP address is held only in the server's memory, to apply the limit of 120 requests per minute; it is not written to disk or to the log. If a tool fails, the server log keeps the tool name and the error message, without your IP address or input.

What you type into the AI assistant itself is handled by that assistant's provider under its own privacy policy. We only receive the tool request it sends.

Analytics

On the live site, every page loads two analytics tools:

  • Umami (cloud.umami.is) counts page views and visits. It does not use cookies.
  • Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used, such as clicks and scrolling, and counts each step of the email sign-up form. The sign-up events carry only the page and the spot on the page, never your email address. Clarity sets its own cookies and works under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Cookies and browser storage

Apart from the Microsoft Clarity cookies above, the site itself sets one short-lived cookie and a few localStorage entries. They stay in your browser; you can clear them at any time in your browser settings.

  • survey_anon_idlocalStorage
The random ID of the feedback survey. It is not linked to your name, email or account.
  • survey_checklocalStorage
Today's date and whether the survey may be shown, so the server is asked at most once a day.
  • survey_opt_outlocalStorage
Set when a page is opened with ?no_survey=1. The survey is then never shown in that browser.
  • marketcrash-dailylocalStorage
Your progress and streak in The Daily Call game.
  • subscription_confirmation_receiptlocalStorage
A random ID that stops a confirmed sign-up from being counted twice.
  • subscription_receiptcookie
Set for at most 5 minutes after you click an email confirmation link. It holds a random ID and the page you signed up on, and is deleted as soon as the next page reads it.

Hosting and delivery

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which handles every request and so sees your IP address and browser details, as any network that delivers websites does. The site, its server and its database run on a server we manage ourselves.

Your data, your choice

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it: your email subscription, or your survey answers (send us your survey_anon_id from your browser's localStorage so we can find them).
