Fear and Greed Index
A 0-100 gauge of US market sentiment built from four public data series, each ranked against its own last 252 trading days. Low readings mean fear is priced in, high readings mean complacency.
Current reading
Computed Jul 26, 2026 against 252 trading days of history.
The four components
Each component is a greed score from 0 to 100 — its current reading ranked against its own last 252 trading days. Higher means greedier. Volatility and credit spreads are inverted, because a high reading there means fear.

What this is, and what it is not
CNN's Fear & Greed Index uses seven components. Three of them — the put/call ratio, market breadth and 52-week highs against lows — have no free public data source, so they are not included here. This is not CNN's index and its reading will not match theirs.
The four components above are computed from the exact series named under each one, ranked against the last 252 trading days and weighted equally. The score describes where sentiment sits relative to its own recent range. It is not investment advice, not a forecast, and not a signal to buy or sell anything.
